Submit An Article

To help us publish all the news and material we receive we request that articles be limited to approximately 300 words and follow the guidelines for style and format below. 
Please remember that articles must reach us no later than the 15th of the month prior to publication.

Some tips to assist in the publication of an interesting & informative article:


  • Keep your article to approximately 300 words

  • Remember to use the 5 W’s – who is involved: what’s happening; when will it happen; where and most importantly why?

  • Be clear and concise in the writing as possible.

  • Please send picture/s if they are available as an attachment only, along with a suitable caption. Do not imbed pictures in the document. Ensure they are of good quality and high resolutions.

  • Please include “Submitted by…” at the end of the article.

  • Please write as 9.30am not 9:30AM, all days and months in full words.

  • Remove http:// from the start of any web address.

  • Use Word to type your article in (where possible)

  • Proofread before sending.

  • Don’t use many exclamation points!!!!!, or question marks, one will suffice!

  • Please don’t use ALL CAPS in your article

  • Headlines require only the initial word and proper nouns with capitals

  • Text should not be placed in tables or text boxes.

  • Don’t send articles that are set up as a poster or flyer, text only.

  • Check your spelling and punctuation.  Incorrect grammar will be corrected.

  • Press enter only once in between paragraphs. While it may look presentable on your screen, it complicates editing.

We can accept text in the body of the email, or Word (.doc, .docx), text (.txt) and rich text formats (.rtf) attachments for text submissions.

Advertise With Us!

All artwork to be supplied as a high-resolution PDF file. Any images extracted from the internet will not be accepted. Any images that are embedded in Word will not be accepted. Send artwork as an attachment with your business name in the subject line. All artwork should be received by the 15th of the month preceding the issue/s you’ve booked.


IMPORTANT NOTE: It is the responsibility of the advertiser to supply the correct advertising copy and by the deadlines specified.  Supplied artwork is deemed final upon submission, NO PROOF WILL BE GENERATED. The New Woodend Star will not be responsible where an incorrect copy has been supplied.


General Terms:


  • Payment terms are strictly within 14 days

  • All advertisements are subject to approval by the Publisher who reserves the right to reject any advertiser deemed inappropriate.

  • The Publisher accepts no responsibility for any loss resulting from the failure of an advertisement, in full or part, to appear or for any error in an advertisement.

  • Artwork must be supplied to the specifications in the rate card. The Publisher reserves the right to change incorrectly supplied artwork without notification to the advertiser and will pass on associated costs to the advertiser.

  • The Publisher takes no responsibility whatsoever for errors in supplied artwork or files.

  • Cancellations will not be accepted after the booking deadline and will be charged at the full booked rate.

  • The advertiser and its agents warrant that material supplied complies with all relevant laws and regulations and indemnifies the Publisher against any and all claims for damages, costs, compensation, copyright or any liability whatsoever including defamation, slander, breach of copyright, infringement of trademarks, business names and patents arising from publication.

Discounted Rates:


Receive a 5% discount when you pre pay adverts in 3 or more editions.

The closing date for the inclusion of articles or advertising for each issue is the 15th of the month prior to publication.
